Lowered cholesterol

Dear Dr. Sears,

About a year and a half ago I had some blood work done and to my surprise found that my cholesterol was 5.9. I worked out every day and thought that I followed a good eating plan. My doctor wanted me to go on drugs to lower my cholesterol, but I insisted that I could do it with diet. I followed the Weight Watchers plan faithfully and after about a year I had lowered my cholesterol to 4.75. I didn't go get my cholesterol checked for about 9 months as I was under a lot of stress with my mother-in-law dying of cancer and gained about 7 lbs. In May of this year after years of being a Weight Watcher I decided to try the Zone. After one month on the Zone I had my bloodwork checked and my cholesterol reading was 4.9, which was not too bad. Well, the great news is that I have now been following the Zone for 4 months and went and had a 20 point check done with my bloodwork and was ecstatic to find that my cholesterol level is now 4.38. Amazing! After 3 months I had dropped from 4.9 to 4.38. My LDL is lower and my HDL stayed the same.

You are the greatest Dr. Sears and I'm in this for life!

Testimonial of the Week

AA/EPA results

Dear Dr. Sears,

I got my AA:EPA ratio results and was very pleased that it is 1.24:1. This test is the "gold test" of blood tests, and I urge anyone who is supplementing with high-dose, pharmaceutical-grade fish oil to take this test.

My almost excellent score also ties in with my TRI:HDL ratio, which is 0.30. Anything below 1 is excellent.

As the ideal AA:EPA ratio is 1.5 to 3.0, according to Dr. Sears, I can now cut back my supplementation of pharmaceutical-grade fish oil from four capsules a day to two capsules a day. I have been supplementing with this amount for 1 1/2 years. What my ratio tells me is that I am producing too many good eicosanoids.

The test was well worth the money, and I will now actually save money because I can decrease my fish oil supplementation.

I have been zoning for 2 1/2 years.  For the past 1 1/2 years, I have been a guinea pig combining the Sears/Zone Diet with high dose pharmaceutical grade fish oil supplementation (1600 EPA/800 DHA).

As I have posted many times before, Dr. Sears is well ahead of his time.

Thank you, Dr. Sears!

Anne-Marie
